What Is Ezy Wrap EXP?

Ezy Wrap EXP is a 100 mm wide, 2 mm thick intumescent wrap supplied in 5 metre rolls. It is designed for use around lagged service pipes in penetrations to help maintain the fire resistance of walls and floors  when used as part of a Fire Rated Solutions system. 

It is intended for use around mineral wool insulation with a thickness of 25 mm to 38 mm

Before You Start

Before installation, confirm the following:

  • The penetration is part of a tested or approved Fire Rated Solutions system

  • The service is insulated with mineral wool lagging between 25 mm and 38 mm thick

  • The correct number of wraps has been determined

  • Cable ties are available to secure the wrap

  • Ezy Seal EXP is ready for sealing any remaining gaps

Installation Method

1. Prepare the penetration

Check that the lagged service penetration is ready for treatment and that the surrounding barrier surface is clean and suitable for sealing.

2. Wrap both sides of the penetration

Wrap the intumescent material around both sides of the wall or floor penetration leaving a min of 15mm to secure cable ties.

3. Apply the correct number of wraps

Install a minimum of 4 wraps, which provides 8 mm total thickness.
Do not exceed 14 wraps, which provides 30 mm total thickness

4. Secure with cable ties

Secure the wrap on each side of the penetration using cable ties

5. Seal remaining gaps

Any remaining gaps should be filled with Ezy Seal EXP and sealed flush against the barrier to create a vermin-resistant seal

  • Product format: 100 mm wide, 2 mm thick, 5 m roll

  • Insulation type: Mineral wool

  • Insulation thickness: 25 mm to 38 mm

  • Minimum wraps: 4

  • Maximum wraps: 14

  • Fixing method: Cable ties

  • Gap sealing: Ezy Seal EXP 

Important Notes

  • Install the wrap on both sides of the penetration with 15mm protruding through each side of the barrier.

  • Ensure the total wrap thickness remains within the specified range of 8 mm to 30 mm

  • Any unsealed gaps should be completed with Ezy Seal EXP for a flush, vermin-resistant finish. 

  • This product is used to assist in maintaining fire resistance in penetrations through walls, floors and ceilingsinvolving lagged services
