What Is Ezy Batt?

Ezy Batt is a fire rated mineral fibre batt designed to seal larger openings in walls and floors where traditional linear gap sealing methods are not practical. It is supplied as a 1200 × 600 mm double factory-coated board and provides a consistent, compliant and reliable solution for oversized penetrations. 

Ezy Batt is suitable for a wide range of building elements, including:

• Plasterboard

• Aerated concrete (ACC)

• Blockwork, including hollow and core-filled

• Brickwork

• Masonry

• PVC-formed concrete wall systems

• Standard concrete 

Before You Start

Before installation, confirm the following:

• The opening size and barrier type are suitable for the tested Ezy Batt system

• The correct batt size and thickness have been selected

• Any supporting products required for the penetration have been prepared

• The surrounding substrate is clean, sound and ready for installation

• The proposed installation matches the relevant tested system details for the services passing through the opening

Installation Overview

1. Prepare the opening

Ensure the penetration or oversized opening is clean and ready to receive the batt. Remove loose debris and confirm the surrounding barrier is sound.

2. Measure the opening

Measure the full size of the penetration and confirm how the batt will fit within or over the opening, depending on the tested system requirements.

3. Cut the batt to suit

Trim the 1200 × 600 mm double factory-coated board as required to suit the opening and any services passing through it. This step is an installation inference based on the batt being supplied as a board format for sealing larger penetrations. 

4. Position the batt

Install the batt into place so the opening is fully sealed in accordance with the tested system being followed.

5. Seal perimeter and service penetrations

Seal around the perimeter of the batt and around any penetrating services using the appropriate Fire Rated Solutions system components where required. 6. Finish and inspect
